What is your favorite time of day to do works of art? Why?
After most of the hours of the day has passed, I find that I have the most creativity and motivation to create art during the last moments of sunlight from the sky. Especially after being occupied with academic work in the morning, drawing at this hour gives me an outlet to unwind and relax. In simple terms, the slow dimness of dusk and the quiet hush that falls on the neighborhood gives me a peaceful and tranquil period of time to create works of art.
Was this your first time making art to music? How was this experience different from other artworks you’ve done?
When I encountered this contest, I expected this to be a new experience as I have never drawn to a prompt from music compared to an idea. At first, I was particularly puzzled on how to approach a piece that portrays an image reflected in chords and notes. It was until a fateful day while I was listening to the piece that I closed my eyes and I envisioned a bustling farmer’s market with vibrant colors surrounding a lighthearted little girl, inspired by the fast tempo and upbeat melody. This incited a spark of inspiration for me to capture an elaborate landscape picture featuring the perspective of a girl’s childhood innocence and the jolly atmosphere emitting from her.

What do you love most about art?
The thing I love most about art is that I get to be creative and what I draw doesn’t have to be something in real life. I can create creatures, characters, and places that don’t exist in the world except in my head.
Was this your first time making art to music? How was this experience different from other artworks you’ve done?
This was my first time making art to music and it was different from my other artworks because there was no definite prompt or key words to inspire the art.
What was one challenge you faced when creating your artwork for this contest?
The trickiest part of this contest was figuring out how to convey my thoughts about the piece into art that would show what the piece is about.
What advice do you have for anyone who wants to create art while listening to music?
A piece of advice I have for anyone who wants to create to music is to just draw out what the music reminds you of, which for me, was a little girl in a garden of flowers.

What is your favorite time of day to do works of art? Why?
My favorite time to do art is in the afternoon, at about 2-3 o'clock, because during that time, I'm fully awake, completely focused on the piece I'm working on. It's also my favorite time because I like to open the window of my room, and the sounds of nature outside inspires me. It's very relaxing to do the art in the early afternoon, before you're too tired and lazy, and after you're fully awake.
What is your favorite part of the piece you chose? Why? How is it reflected in your art?
My favorite part about my piece is the gold fishes. They're just so beautiful, and really stand out from the other colors.
Was this your first time making art to music? How was this experience different from other artworks you’ve done?
This is actually my first time making art to music, and I really enjoyed it. I love this experience because it's so interesting to create something that was inspired by music, and really cool that I could somehow visualize it through art.
What advice do you have for anyone who wants to create art while listening to music?
If you want my advice on making art to music, I'd say think of something that reminds you of notes and/or rhythm from the piece, and then go from there.

I also love how art allows you to imagine and create anything you want and drawing itself is very calming and therapeutic.
